The histology of rhynchosaur (Diapsida, Archosauromorpha) ankylothecodonty

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Dental evolution is a major topic in vertebrate palaeontology and provides key insights into the evolutionary history of several amniote clades. This study investigates rhynchosaur ankylothecodonty within the broader evolutionary context of Archosauromorpha.

Assessment of Orofacial Muscle Strength, Masticatory and Swallowing Function in Children Indicated for Orthodontic Treatment—A Preliminary Investigation

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract illustrating the differences in facial muscle strength, masticatory function, and swallowing function in children indicated for orthodontic treatment compared to a reference group with no orthodontic treatment needs. ABSTRACT Background It would be beneficial for clinicians to have more tools to assess the treatment needs of children

Tissue Perfusion and Biomarkers Assessment Following Root Coverage Procedures

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Gingival recessions treated with a collagen matrix loaded with rhPDGF showed significantly greater early tissue perfusion compared to sites treated without the growth factor. Early tissue perfusion outcomes were correlated to the amount of root coverage and gingival thickness gain at 6 months.

Cell Therapy for Periodontal, Soft‐Tissue, and Craniofacial Regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The clinical translation of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) represents a major advancement in dentistry, especially for periodontal, soft‐tissue, and craniofacial regeneration. However, several challenges remain to be addressed, including the absence of standardised protocols, limited scalability, regulatory hurdles, a lack of well‐controlled ...

On the Optimal Prediction of Extreme Events in Heavy‐Tailed Time Series With Applications to Solar Flare Forecasting

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The prediction of extreme events in time series is a fundamental problem arising in many financial, scientific, engineering, and other applications. We begin by establishing a general Neyman–Pearson‐type characterization of optimal extreme event predictors in terms of density ratios.
