Species-Specific Detection and Quantification of Erwinia pyrifoliae in Plants by a Direct SYBR Green Quantitative Real-Time PCR Assay

open access: yesPhytoFrontiers, 2022
The present study describes a SYBR Green real-time quantitative (q) PCR assay to detect Erwinia pyrifoliae in plants. E. pyrifoliae, first described in South Korea, is a phytopathogenic bacterial species in the genus Erwinia.

Phenotypic Diversity of Erwinia amylovora in Bulgaria

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 2007
Fifty-one strains of Erwinia amylovora isolated from nine host plants in Bulgaria were characterized phenotypically and identified by the API 20E and BIOLOG system. The identification was confirmed by PCR amplification of a specific region of the plasmid pEA29 and the genome ams region.

EUROPEAN PROTOCOL FOR DIAGNOSIS OF ERWINIA AMYLOVORA

open access: yesActa Horticulturae, 2006
The EU-funded project DIAGPRO has developed diagnostic protocols for 18 quarantine pests including Erwinia amylovora. The protocol for this organism includes a diagnosis scheme for detection of the bacterium in symptomatic and asymptomatic plants with details of the different techniques as isolation in three media, direct tissue print-ELISA, enrichment

Host Range of Bacteriophages Against a World-Wide Collection of Erwinia amylovora Determined Using a Quantitative PCR Assay

open access: yesViruses, 2019
Erwinia amylovora is a globally devastating pathogen of apple, pear, and other Rosaceous plants. The use of lytic bacteriophages for disease management continues to garner attention as a possible supplement or alternative to antibiotics.

Conservation of Erwinia amylovora pathogenicity-relevant genes among Erwinia genomes [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Microbiology, 2017
The Erwinia genus comprises species that are plant pathogens, non-pathogen, epiphytes, and opportunistic human pathogens. Within the genus, Erwinia amylovora ranks among the top 10 plant pathogenic bacteria. It causes the fire blight disease and is a global threat to commercial apple and pear production.

The hrpC and hrpN Operons of Erwinia chrysanthemi EC16 Are Flanked by plcA and Homologs of Hemolysin/Adhesin Genes and Accompanying Activator/Transporter Genes

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1998
The hrpC operon of Erwinia chrysanthemi EC16 encodes five genes conserved in Erwinia amylovora and Pseudomonas syringae. Mutagenesis indicated that hrcC is required for elicitation of the hypersensitive reaction in tobacco leaves. The unexpected presence

DIFFERENTIATION OF ERWINIA AMYLOVORA, ERWINIA CAROTOVORA, AND ERWINIA HERBICOLA

open access: yesThe Journal of General and Applied Microbiology, 1968
Fermentation of glucose, nitrate reduction, nitrate respiration, nucleoside phosphotransferase, and pectolytic activity were tested on 132 strains of the genus Erwinia obtained from the culture collections. All the strains of Erw. Amylovora formed taxonomically homogeneous group, while the strains designated as Erw. Amylovora var.

Criteria for efficient prevention of dissemination and successful eradication of Erwinia amylovora (the cause of fire blight) in Aragón, Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Erwinia amylovora was detected on pome fruits in the Aragón region (North-Eastern Spain), in a ca. 5 km radius area located in the mid Jalón river (mid Ebro Valley) in the province of Zaragoza, during 2000‒2003.
