Erysiphe platani

Ascospore Discharge by Erysiphe Trina

Mycologia, 1972
Ascospores appear to be the major if not the only means of dispersal of Erysiphe trina Harkn. on Quercus agrifolia Nee. When living leaves bearing perithecia were wetted, spore discharge began in less than 10 min. Maximum discharge was in the first hour and continued for about 40 hr. Ascospores were discharged vertically to a maximum of 31 mm above the

Phospholipase activity in Erysiphe pisi

Physiological Plant Pathology, 1983
Aqueous extracts of mycelia of Erysiphe pisi prevented the accumulation of fluorescein by pea mesophyll protoplasts suspended in fluorescein diacetate and caused haemolysis of sheep erythrocytes. The activitywas lostin 8 min at 56°C. After purification by ammonium sulphate precipitation and isoelectric focusing, fractions were assayed for protein ...

The ecology of Erysiphe graminis DC.

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1947
Summary A strain of Erysiphe graminis which attacks oats in the west of Scotland has been mainly used in the present investigation. Conidia germinate much better in a saturated atmosphere than they do in water. Germination is low at 90 % r.h. and apparently does not take place at lower values of r.h.

Chromosome Number of Erysiphe graminis

Nature, 1966
THE formae speciales of the Ascomycete Erysiphe graminis cause powdery mildew of cereal crops, a disease of considerable economic importance. The chromosome number of the fungus is, however, not recorded in the literature. Chromosome counts following meiosis of a few related species and genera have been made1–6, and in general these suggest a haploid ...

The Erysiphe — Microsphaera complex on fabaceae

Zentralblatt für Mikrobiologie, 1985
Summary The present paper deals with the very complicated complex of the Erysiphaceae on legumes (Fabaceae s. 1.). Discussions of the particular groups of species, keys and illustrations shall contribute to a better knowledge of the species concerned. A new variety, Microsphaera trifolii var. intermedia U. Braun var. nov., is described.

Germination of Conidia of Erysiphe Cichoracearum

Mycologia, 1964
Effects of light. Conidia were collected from Helianthus annuus, Zinnia elegans, and Xanthium pennsylvanicum growing in the greenhouse (Morrison, 1961). The spores were harvested during the daylight hours as suggested by Yarwood (1936) by shaking the infected leaves over one per cent water agar plates 24 to 48 hr after the plants were treated to remove
