AbstractErythema nodosum (EN) is a hypersensitivity reaction associated with many diseases. We describe a family in which 4 sisters had acute or recurrent EN. HLA typing showed a common haplotype in the affected members of the family. A review of familial EN and HLA distribution in EN is presented.

Erythema Nodosum and Blastomycosis
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1982Two patients with blastomycosis and erythema nodosum are described. In one patient, the underlying blastomycosis resolved after wedge resection of the pulmonary infiltrate, but without chemotherapy. In the second patient, the underlying disseminated blastomycosis required amphotericin B therapy.

From a careful study of nine patients with chronic inflammatory nodose lesions of the legs, we have concluded that there is a chronic form of EN which has a varied clinical presentation but a common histology typical of EN. This form of EN can continue for years.
