Microscopic and thermodynamic evaluation of vesicles shed by erythrocytes at elevated temperatures [PDF]
Erythrocytes and vesicles shed by erythrocytes from human and rat blood were collected and analyzed after temperature was elevated by physical exercise or by exposure to external heat. The images of erythrocytes and vesicles were analyzed by the light microscopy system with spatial resolution of better than 90 nm.

Effect of Storage Period on Platelet Count and Erythrocyte Morphology in Whole Blood Bags [PDF]
Platelets and erythrocytes undergo transformation during storage, which may cause them to become inactive or non-functional. In transfusion medicine, the storage period of platelets and erythrocytes is very important because they change shape during ...

Platelet-Induced Clumping of Plasmodium falciparum–Infected Erythrocytes from Malawian Patients with Cerebral Malaria—Possible Modulation In Vivo by Thrombocytopenia [PDF]
Platelets may play a role in the pathogenesis of human cerebral malaria (CM), and they have been shown to induce clumping of Plasmodium falciparum–parasitized red blood cells (PRBCs) in vitro.

A New Blood Diluent for Counting the Erythrocytes and Leucocytes of the Chicken
Abstract INTRODUCTION HEMATOLOGICAL studies on chickens have long been hampered by the lack of a quick, readily applicable, and quantitative method for the enumeration of the leucocytes. This problem stems from the fact that the nuclei of bird erythrocytes are not destroyed in the usual procedure for mammalian blood cell enumeration and therefore ...

Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics Modeling of Defective Erythrocyte Membrane and Sickle Hemoglobin Fibers [PDF]
In this work, we develop a two-component coarse-grained molecular dynamics (CGMD) model for simulating the erythrocyte membrane. This proposed model possesses the key feature of combing the lipid bilayer and the erythrocyte cytoskeleton, thus showing both the fluidic behavior of the lipid bilayer and elastic properties of the erythrocyte cytoskeleton ...
