Subsistence hunting shapes the spatial variation of jaguar densities in community‐managed forests
Jaguars and people can coexist in community‐managed forests, but distance matters. In Guatemala's Maya Biosphere Reserve, jaguar numbers increased markedly in areas harder to reach on foot, yet jaguars were still found near communities, showing that responsibly managed forests can support jaguar populations while allowing people to maintain traditional

Elevation shapes alpine snow algal blooms and their influence on albedo reduction
Graphical summary of elevational trends in Sanguina‐dominated snow algal blooms. Increasing elevation was associated with larger cells, lower Chla content per cell, higher astaxanthin ratios, lower snow water content, and reduced cell‐normalized albedo, whereas algal cell density showed no consistent elevational trend.

Maximum water stress is decoupled from climate, traits, and growth in a xeric oak
We sampled sites across the geographic distribution of blue oak (Quercus douglasii) in California, USA, which spans a large range of mean annual precipitation. Summary Our ability to explain and predict the spatial patterns of forest mortality remains limited.

Community‐level fitted relationship between spatial association Lij and trait dissimilarity (tDij) at the fine spatial scale (r = 40 mm; where r represents the radius around individuals of the focal species). Summary Predicting coexistence in species‐rich plant communities requires understanding the role of functional traits in species interactions and

Running With Scissors? Integrating GPT Models Into Public Policy Research
ABSTRACT The integration of large language models (LLMs) into public policy research presents both exciting opportunities and methodological challenges. This research note explores how OpenAI's GPT can be used to semi‐automate the annotation of legislative testimony within the Advocacy Coalition Framework, focusing on emotion‐belief dyads.
