Forecast‐based action for conservation

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 3, June 2023., 2023
Abstract Extreme weather events pose an immediate threat to biodiversity, but existing conservation strategies have limitations. Advances in meteorological forecasting and innovation in the humanitarian sector provide a possible solution—forecast‐based action (FbA).

Psychological impact of simple scoring system for predicting early pregnancy outcome in pregnancy of uncertain viability: randomized controlled trial

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 61, Issue 5, Page 624-631, May 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate whether psychological wellbeing of women with an intrauterine pregnancy of uncertain viability can be modified during the waiting period to final diagnosis, by offering predictive information regarding the likely outcome of the pregnancy (chance of ongoing viability). Methods This was a single‐center two‐arm randomized

Self‐determination of people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 65, Issue 1, Page 16-23, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Self‐determination is a human right that people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD) risk not being granted. Exploration of such topics and research in general has traditionally not included people with PIMD as sources of knowledge; rather, the perspective of others has been sought.

Habitat use of and threats to African large carnivores in a mixed‐use landscape

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 36, Issue 6, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Large carnivores increasingly inhabit human‐affected landscapes, which exhibit heterogeneity in biotic resources, anthropogenic pressures, and management strategies. Understanding large carnivore habitat use in these systems is critical for their conservation, as is the evaluation of competing management approaches and the impacts of ...

Long‐term neurodevelopmental outcome of neonates born at term with perinatal haemorrhagic stroke: A population‐based study

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 64, Issue 8, Page 971-978, August 2022., 2022
Abstract Aim To assess the long‐term neurodevelopmental outcome of neonates born at term diagnosed with perinatal haemorrhagic stroke (PHS) and investigate the associations among brain territorial involvement, clinical risk factors, and neurodevelopmental outcomes. Method We conducted a population‐based study enrolling 55 neonates born at term with PHS

Trauma models to identify major trauma and mortality in the prehospital setting

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), Volume 107, Issue 4, Page 373-380, March 2020., 2020
Currently available prehospital trauma models perform reasonably in predicting in‐hospital mortality, but are inadequate at identifying patients who have experienced major trauma. Future research should focus on which patients would benefit from treatment in a major trauma centre.

Scaling range sizes to threats for robust predictions of risks to biodiversity

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 32, Issue 2, Page 322-332, April 2018., 2018
Abstract Assessments of risk to biodiversity often rely on spatial distributions of species and ecosystems. Range‐size metrics used extensively in these assessments, such as area of occupancy (AOO), are sensitive to measurement scale, prompting proposals to measure them at finer scales or at different scales based on the shape of the distribution or ...
