Summary We examine the relationship between exchange rates and macroeconomic fundamentals using a two‐step maximum likelihood estimator through which we compute time‐varying factor loadings. Factors are obtained as principal components, extracted from vintage macro‐datasets that combine FRED‐MD and OECD databases. Using 14 currencies over 1990–2021, we

We analyzed overlaying regional patterns of species diversity in Uruguayan grasslands driven by climate seasonality and land‐use shaping taxonomic richness at local scale. Landscape configuration affects diversity patterns of native ground flora, which is mainly sustained by the “old growth grassland” species pool.

Elizabethan Catholic Intelligencers, Spain and the Armada of 1597
Abstract Recent research on late Reformation English/British Catholics’ engagement in contemporary politics, has, for the most part, focused on regicidal schemes or on Catholic polemical writings. Espionage activities by Catholics in England, however, have been often overlooked.

Abstract Aim Human activities are causing massive increases in extinction rates but might also lead to drastic increases in speciation rates; for example, after human‐mediated spread of species to otherwise unreachable landmasses. The long‐term net anthropogenic effects on biodiversity therefore remain uncertain.

In this article, we assessed the differences in diet estimates and potential ecological and economic impact measurements according to the section of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, small and large intestine) analysed. We aimed to test which section(s) provided a better diet representation and putative impact of a common inland invader.

Geo‐hydromorphological assessment of Europe's southernmost blanket bogs
This research identifies and provides geomorphological description, mesotope classification and carbon stored of 10 currently unrecognized areas of peatlands in northern Spain, extending the southernmost limit of blanket bogs in Europe. However, high anthropogenic pressures are affecting these blanket bogs and, without protection, these long‐term ...

Limited biomass recovery from gold mining in Amazonian forests
To achieve large‐scale restoration targets, Guyana and other Amazonian countries will be challenged to remediate previously mined lands. The recovery process is highly dependent on nitrogen availability rather than mercury contamination, affecting woody biomass regrowth.

Mapping the density of giant trees in the Amazon
Summary Tall trees (height ≥ 60 m) are keystone elements of tropical forests, strongly influencing biodiversity, carbon storage, and ecosystem resilience. Yet, their density and spatial distribution remain poorly quantified, especially in remote Amazonian regions, limiting our understanding of their ecological roles and contribution to forest–climate ...

Contested values of grogue in Cabo Verde
Abstract This article explores grogue, a sugarcane‐based distilled spirit of Cabo Verde, and its multifaceted and contested valuations in culture, livelihoods, and well‐being. Despite Cabo Verde's challenging climate, sugarcane agriculture remains significant primarily due to the importance placed on the local production of grogue.
