Is Single‐Session Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy With Fundoplication Safe and Effective in Achalasia? A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
This meta‐analysis of nine studies (202 patients) demonstrates that peroral endoscopic myotomy with fundoplication (POEM‐F) achieves a technical success of 94.8% and significant symptom improvement (Eckardt score reduction from 8.3 to 1.1). Post‐procedural esophagitis occurred in 20.7% and wrap integrity was preserved in 75.7% on follow‐up, supporting ...

Adjuvant nivolumab after chemoradiotherapy and resection for patients with esophageal cancer: A real‐world matched comparison of overall survival

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 5, Page 1292-1301, 1 March 2026.
What's New? Patients with esophageal or gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer with residual disease after treatment with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) and resection frequently experience poor survival. Improvements in outcome, however, may be possible using adjuvant treatment with nivolumab.

Local Anesthetics in Cancer: Mechanisms and Translational Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Local anesthetics demonstrate multifaceted antitumor effects that collectively contribute to cancer suppression. Beyond canonical sodium channel blockade, these agents exert the following pharmacological actions: inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, suppression of migration and invasion, induction of proapoptotic pathways, attenuation of ...

Targeting Tumor Dormancy and Recurrence: Molecular Mechanisms and Peptide Therapeutic Delivery

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
This review summarizes the molecular mechanisms that regulate tumor dormancy and its role in cancer recurrence, with emphasis on immune evasion, extracellular matrix remodeling, metabolic regulation and angiogenic switching. It further discusses emerging peptide–based therapeutic strategies aimed at detecting, modulating, and eliminating dormant tumor ...
