NIR-responsive Cu2 − xSe@Fc nanoparticles for photothermal- ferroptosis combination therapy in esophageal cancer

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology
Esophageal cancer (EC) represents a highly recurrent and aggressive malignancy within the digestive system. However, conventional therapeutic strategies exhibit notable limitations in their clinical applications. Photothermal therapy (PTT), combined with

Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy for Esophageal Cancer: Current Evidence and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Esophageal cancer is a highly aggressive malignancy with regional variations in histological subtypes. Adenocarcinoma predominates in Western countries, whereas squamous cell carcinoma is more common in Asia. Despite advances in multimodal therapy, esophagectomy remains the cornerstone of curative treatment, and the development of various ...

Down-regulatory effects of miR-211 on long non-coding RNA SOX2OT and SOX2 genes in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objective: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) that transcriptionally or post-Transcriptionally regulate gene expression through degradation of their mRNA targets and/or translational suppression.

Prognostic Impact of Immunoscore in Pathological Stage III Differentiated Gastric Cancer: A Multicenter Cohort Study Including PD‐L1/PD‐L2 Expression Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
We assessed the prognostic ability of the Immunoscore and PD‐L1 or PD‐L2 expression in pStage III GC patients by immunohistochemistry. The results showed that Immunoscore was an independent prognostic factor in differentiated GC, but not in undifferentiated GC.

Epigenetic regulation of CD271, a potential cancer stem cell marker associated with chemoresistance and metastatic capacity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are considered to be the cause of tumor initiation, metastasis and recurrence. Additionally, CSCs are responsible for the failure of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Influence of Hospital and Surgeon Volumes on Clinical Outcomes After Standard Surgery for Advanced Gastric Cancer: Supplementary Analysis of the Multicenter Randomized Phase III Trial JCOG1001

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
We have evaluated interinstitutional variation to verify the generalization and standardization of gastric cancer surgery from a supplementary analysis of the randomized phase III trial JCOG1001. Although there was some degree of interinstitutional variation in short‐ and long‐term outcomes after standard gastric surgery, we found no correlation ...

CERS6 promotes esophageal squamous cell carcinoma proliferation by increasing the stability of RPN1

open access: yesCell Death Discovery
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is associated with poor prognosis because it is typically diagnosed at a moderate or advanced stage. Investigating the precise molecular mechanism of ESCC pathogenesis is essential for developing new therapeutic ...
