How to Interpret Esophageal Impedance pH Monitoring

open access: yesJournal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility, 2010
Esophageal impedance pH monitoring provides quantitative data on esophageal acid exposure and has the ability to correlate the symptoms with acid exposure events. The nomenclature for the reflux patterns detected in impedance pH monitoring as well as the normal values have been determined.

GERD and Upper Aerodigestive Tract Cancer Risk: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is highly prevalent, yet its association with upper aerodigestive tract (UADT) cancers beyond esophageal adenocarcinoma remains incompletely defined. This systematic review and meta‐analysis aimed to quantify the risk of specific UADT cancers in individuals with GERD.

Data‐Independent Acquisition Mass Spectrometry in Tumor Classification and Cancer Biomarker Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Cancer treatment is far from optimal also because current classification systems do not reflect the complex molecular status of the tumor and its phenotype in sufficient detail. To construct molecular tumor classifiers, omics tools provide complex molecular data reflecting many aspects from genotype to phenotype.

PROLONGED GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX MONITORING BY IMPEDANCE-PHMETRY: A REVIEW OF THE SUBJECT PONDERED WITH OUR EXPERIENCE WITH 1,200 CASES

open access: yesArquivos de Gastroenterologia, 2018
BACKGROUND: Prolonged monitoring increased our knowledge on gastroesophageal reflux (GER), and the disease became known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Prolonged reflux monitoring permits the diagnosis of GERD when endoscopic findings are not

Evidence‐based guideline for clinical practice in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of recurrent wheezing in infants and toddlers in China

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wheezing is a common respiratory symptom in infants and toddlers, and recurrent wheezing is a significant respiratory disorder affecting this age group. Given the multifactorial etiology of recurrent wheezing, clinical practice lacks standardized diagnostic and therapeutic protocols. Recent years have witnessed substantial progress in clinical

Multifrequency Multiparameter Magnetic Resonance Elastography Applied to an In Vivo Porcine Model for Assessing Portal Hypertension

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
Portal hypertension, a critical complication in chronic liver disease, has long relied on invasive hepatic venous pressure gradient measurement for definitive diagnosis. This study establishes that multifrequency three‐dimensional magnetic resonance elastography (3D‐MRE) can noninvasively quantify portal pressure, with splenic stiffness and loss ...

Assessment of Esophageal Motility Disorders in Patients with Refractory Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2022
There is insufficient data about esophageal body dysmotility in patients with refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease (RGERD) who have inadequate response to proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) treatment.

The Use of Non‐Selective Beta‐Blockers in Cirrhotic Portal Hypertension

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
Non‐selective beta‐blockers (NSBBs) reduce portal pressure and play a key role in preventing variceal bleeding, managing ascites, and preventing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in cirrhotic patients. Their clinical application requires individualized strategies and further optimization of indications. ABSTRACT Liver cirrhosis is the end stage of various

Symptom Characteristics and Psychosomatic Profiles in Different Spectrum of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2014
Background/AimsGastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is diagnosed based on symptoms of heartburn and regurgitation but is a heterogeneous condition which can be subclassified according to endoscopy and esophageal reflux monitoring. The aim of this study
