Esophageal stenosis with esophageal atresia
Pediatric Radiology, 1987Esophageal atresia with tracheosophageal fistula may be associated rarely with distal esophageal stenosis. Three patients are reported with this combination of esophageal anomalies. In addition the clinical and radiologic features of 24 patients previously reported in the literature are reviewed.

Esophageal Scintigraphy Esophageal Bronchus
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1985In this report, an esophageal bronchus was identified with radionuclide esophageal imaging. The esophageal bronchus, which arises independently from the esophagus, was demonstrated at the time of gastroesophageal reflux, with tracer being seen in the right lung.

Intramural esophageal dissection with eosinophilic esophagitis
Clinical Journal of Gastroenterology, 2022Intramural esophageal dissection (IED), like esophageal perforation, is a rare complication of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). A 44-year-old woman who had experienced EoE for 8 years complained of food impaction, severe neck pain, and odynophagia as well as consulted the emergency unit.

Esophageal dilation in eosinophilic esophagitis
Best Practice & Research Clinical Gastroenterology, 2015Tissue remodeling with scaring is common in adult EoE patients with long standing disease. This is the major factor contributing to their complaints of solid food dysphagia and recurrent food impactions. The best tests to define the degree of remodeling are barium esophagram, high resolution manometry and endoscopy.

ESOPHAGITIS DISSECANS SUPERFICIALIS (ESOPHAGEAL CAST) COMPLICATING ESOPHAGEAL SCLEROTHERAPY
American Journal of Gastroenterology, 1998Esophagitis dissecans superficialis is a rare and benign condition that involves the formation of an esophageal cast. This disorder has been described in association with a variety of etiologic factors. We report a case of an esophageal cast in a patient included in a program of sclerotherapy of varices.

Eosinophilic esophagitis is a new disease commonly confused with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Because of different treatments, recognition of eosinophilic esophagitis is important.Recent work further characterizes the allergic response, demonstrating a population of eosinophils different from gut and blood that specifically homes to the esophagus ...

Esophageal remodeling in pediatric eosinophilic esophagitis
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2007Eosinophils are associated with airway remodeling in asthma, but studies have not yet determined whether eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) is associated with esophageal remodeling. We performed quantitative immunohistochemical analysis of remodeling changes in esophageal biopsy specimens from children with and without EE to evaluate if there were changes in

Esophageal peristaltic dysfunction in peptic esophagitis
Gastroenterology, 1986Esophageal exposure to acid is a major determinant in the pathogenesis of reflux esophagitis. In this study, we analyzed the esophageal peristaltic function of 177 patients and asymptomatic volunteers for abnormalities that could lead to prolonged esophageal acid clearance. The subjects were divided into five groups: normal volunteers, patient controls,

Lower Esophageal Sphincter in Reflux Esophagitis
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1976Lower esophageal sphincter pressure (LESP) was studied by intraluminal perfusion-manometry in the resting state and after graded intravenous doses of pentagastrin in 12 healthy subjects and 27 patients with reflux esophagitis. These patients were classified as having ulcerative (11) or non-ulcerative esophagitis (16) by histological examination and ...

Esophageal Cancer With Esophageal Duplication Cyst
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2013Esophageal duplication cysts are benign, asymptomatic anomalies of foregut formation. We report a case of esophageal duplication cyst with esophageal squamous cancer. An upper endoscopy visualized with esophageal scan disclosed a stenotic lesion in the lower esophagus. Computed tomography images revealed a cystic mass in the inferior mediastinum, which
