An integrative approach to assess non‐native iguana presence on Saba and Montserrat: Are we losing all native Iguana populations in the Lesser Antilles?

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, Volume 26, Issue 6, Page 813-825, December 2023., 2023
Iguanas are native to all Lesser Antillean islands, where they are among the most important keystone species within the threatened Caribbean dry‐forest biome. However, several populations have already become extinct and all but two remaining island populations are under direct threat of hybridization with non‐native iguanas.

Identifying links between the biodiversity impacts and monetary costs of alien birds

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 5, Issue 5, Page 1561-1576, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Alien species can be damaging to native biodiversity, human well‐being and the economy. Identifying the complete range of impacts they cause, and the ways that these impacts are connected, may inform the prioritisation of management actions to mitigate impacts.

Relative importance of exotic species traits in determining invasiveness across levels of establishment: Example of freshwater fish

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 37, Issue 9, Page 2358-2370, September 2023., 2023
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Understanding the factors responsible for the success of exotic species is a prevalent issue in invasion biology. Although the ecological traits of exotic species are known to play a major role, it is still unknown which traits are responsible for the different ...

Salvinia plants in trade: what species are we actually talking about?

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 53, Issue 1, Page 108-116, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Incorrect labelling of plants in trade and misidentification are widespread. Likewise, in trade numerous names are being used for the ornamental aquatic plant known as ‘Kariba weed’, but rarely the correct scientific name Salvinia molesta Mitch. For inspection services of EPPO member countries, correct identification of S.

First report of the alien ambrosia beetle Cnestus mutilatus and further finding of Anisandrus maiche in the European part of the EPPO region (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae: Xyleborini)

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 52, Issue 2, Page 446-450, August 2022., 2022
Abstract Based on specimens collected in traps in North‐Eastern Italy, Cnestus mutilatus (Blandford, 1894), an ambrosia beetle native to Asia, is reported for the first time in Italy and in the European part of the EPPO region. A second species, Anisandrus maiche Kurentsov, 1941, is recorded for the first time in Italy and the third time in the ...

Longitudinal vegetation turnover in an eastern Rift Valley riparian corridor

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Ecology, Volume 60, Issue 1, Page 27-42, March 2022., 2022
Abstract East African riparian corridors are biodiversity hot spots that occur in catchments degrading under deforestation and overgrazing. Quadrats and belt transects were employed to investigate plant succession along the River Gilgil, in the Kenyan Rift Valley. The study found that most species (total 365) were broadly distributed across the tropics,

Quantifying invasion degree by alien plants species in Reunion Island

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 46, Issue 7, Page 1025-1037, November 2021., 2021
This study aimed to quantify invasion degree by alien plants species in Reunion Island using three different sources of data : data from field survey, expert knowledge and model. Abstract The largest area of intact vegetation in the Mascarene’s archipelago is found on Reunion Island, but the remaining natural areas are under threats.

Les impacts des renouées asiatiques sur l’environnement et les infrastructures [PDF]

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2019

How does the Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis) affect ecosystem services and biodiversity components in invaded areas?

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 216-228, April 2021., 2021
Environmental risk assessment (ERA) is an important component of risk analysis for plant pests and invasive alien species (IAS), and a standardized and consistent methodology has recently been developed for evaluating their impact on ecosystem services and biodiversity.
