A distributed large‐volume soil sampling approach to address spatial heterogeneity in eDNA data collection

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 6, Page 1726-1734, June 2026.
Abstract Soil sampling for eDNA is a useful approach to assess ecological communities in specific locations, such as comparing community composition across different site treatments. However, species' dispersal abilities and habitat selection, among many other factors, drive the uneven distribution of organisms across the landscape. Thus, to accurately

Landscape features predict broad‐scale seed rain patterns across fragments of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 5, May 2026.
Along with precipitation, forest cover emerges as a fundamental driver of alpha and beta diversity in the seed rain. This highlights the role of habitat amount at the landscape level over patch‐level features, like patch size, for seed dispersal. However, increased seed density can be related to higher dispersal rates in forest borders.

Stemflow Dynamics in the Jamari National Forest (Brazilian Amazon): I. The Role of Tree Structure

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 3, May 2026.
A portion of rainfall that contacts tree canopies is drained down tree stems as stemflow. Stemflow is an underexamined component of rainfall partitioning in tropical forests. To investigate how tree canopy structural attributes influence stemflow in the Brazilian Amazon, we measured stemflow, rainfall, and dendrometric parameters of 56 trees in the ...

Micropropagação de espécies florestais brasileiras

open access: yesPesquisa Florestal Brasileira, 2013
A micropropagação apresenta um enorme potencial de aplicação para a multiplicação de genótipos de espécies florestais brasileiras de interesse. Os estudos relativos ao cultivo in vitro de espécies nativas estão relacionados, principalmente, à ausência de

Mammal Responses to Habitat Degradation Induced by Cashew Expansion in West Africa

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, Volume 29, Issue 2, Page 169-182, April 2026.
Relationships between (a) estimated mammal species richness, (b) overall mammal species photographic rate, (c) carnivore photographic rate, (d) insectivore photographic rate, (e) omnivore photographic rate and (f) herbivore photographic rate and the local habitat characteristics as denoted by the scores of the first component of the Principal Component

Patch and Landscape Predictors of Mammal Diversity and Their Trait‐Relationships in the Largest Atlantic Forest Island in Brazil

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
Urbanization and habitat fragmentation reshape mammal communities on Santa Catarina Island, one of the largest Atlantic Forest islands in Brazil. Using camera traps across protected forest patches, we show that species richness declines with urban and unvegetated matrices, while abundance increases in smaller and more isolated fragments dominated by ...

Domesticação florestal: técnicas, aspectos avaliados, propagação de espécies e sua importância para a manutenção da biodiversidade

open access: yesRevista Agrogeoambiental, 2010
Este trabalho de revisão de literatura tem como objetivo contribuir com a literatura pertinente à domesticação de espécies florestais, cuja literatura abordando este tema específico espécies florestais é de certa forma escassa.

A Novel Sampling Protocol for Fruit‐Feeding Butterflies in Grasslands and Open Habitats

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study proposed a novel sampling protocol for fruit‐feeding butterflies in grasslands and open areas in the subtropical region. The new method involves the use of Van Someren‐Rydon bait traps placed on specific supports closer to the ground, aiming to capture the true diversity of butterflies in these habitats.

Peletização de Sementes Florestais no Brasil: Uma Atualização

open access: yesFloresta e Ambiente
No Brasil, os estudos com peletização de sementes de espécies florestais ainda são escassos; as razões prováveis são o alto custo desta técnica e o pouco uso da semeadura direta com espécies florestais.
