El estudio de material de herbario para la revisión del género Turnera, y los viajes de recolección hechos al Brasil en los últimos tres años han permitido el hallazgo de algunas nuevas especies, que se describen aquí: T.aromatica, T.candida, T.cipoensis, T.gardneriana, T.joelii, T.prancei, T.purpurascens, T.rubrobracteata y T.urbanii.
