Insights from experiences comanaging woody invasive alien plants in Argentina
The complexities of invasive alien species (IAS) management call for a close collaboration among stakeholders to comanage effective solutions. Based on a SWOT analysis, we identified personal motivations as the main force that helps to overcome barriers to to IAS comanagement in Argentina. We recommend the development of spaces to share experiences and

Wild herbivores enhance resistance to invasion by exotic cacti in an African savanna
Our experimental and observational findings that wild herbivores confer resistance to invasion by exotic cacti add to evidence that conserving and restoring native herbivore assemblages (particularly megaherbivores) can increase community resistance to plant invasions. Photo credit: Gustavo Lozada (same for potential cover image). Abstract Whether wild

Pine invasion reduced native species abundance, plant cover, richness and diversity, with an increase over time since invasion. Species diversity and richness were lower in the managed area than in the area that had not been invaded. Restoration activities are therefore required to increase native species diversity.

Abstract Aim DNA metabarcoding has great potential to improve biomonitoring in island's marine ecosystems, which are highly vulnerable to global change and non‐indigenous species (NIS) introductions. However, the depth and accuracy of the taxonomic identifications are mainly dependent on reference libraries containing representative and reliable ...

Plant pirates of the Caribbean: is Cuba sheltered by its revolutionary economy?
Cuba – a large, habitat‐rich island that has cultivated economic self‐sufficiency – is tethered between contrasting predictions of non‐native species diversity. A high capacity for colonization is prognosticated by its biogeography; muted introduction of organisms is predicted by its low dependence on imports and tourism, as economic openness is ...

Understanding biological invasions: an experimental study with "Carpobrotus edulis" [PDF]
