A Sargassum fluitans Borgesen Ethanol Extract Exhibits a Hepatoprotective Effect In Vivo in Acute and Chronic Liver Damage Models

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
One of the leading causes of death worldwide, cirrhosis, is a liver condition characterized by chronic necrosis, inflammation, and fibrosis. Hepatoprotective compounds, such as antioxidants, can prevent fibrosis. Macroalgae (seaweed) contain high amounts of antioxidant compounds and are plentiful; indeed, species such as Sargassum fluitans Borgesen ...

Green Production of Indolylquinones, Derivatives of Perezone, and Related Molecules, Promising Antineoplastic Compounds

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
A green approach to produce the indolyl derivatives from four natural quinones (perezone, isoperezone, menadione, and plumbagin) was performed; in this regard, a comparative study was accomplished among the typical mantle heating and three nonconventional activating modes of reaction (microwave, near‐infrared, and high speed ball milling or ...

Guanidine Ligands as Versatile Scaffolds for the Development of Antitumor Ruthenium–Based Metallodrugs

open access: yesBioinorganic Chemistry and Applications, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The straightforward catalytic synthesis of guanidine ligands has been evaluated as a strategy for rapidly developing ruthenium metallodrugs as antitumor agents. A series of structurally guanidine ligands, obtained via guanylation reactions, were used as scaffolds for generating RAPTA‐C derivatives.

Uncatalysed Production of Coumarin‐3‐carboxylic Acids: A Green Approach

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
A green contribution in short reaction times with moderate yields to produce coumarin‐3‐carboxylic acids is offered. Five different modes to activate the reactions (microwave, near‐infrared, mechanical milling, and ultrasound) were compared with mantle heating in the presence or absence of ethanol, a green solvent.

Chemical Stability of Ceftazidime Compounded in Saline, Glycerin and Dexamethasone‐SP Solutions Stored at −20°C, 4°C and 25°C Over a 60 Day Period

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 6, Page 862-869, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic cases of canine otitis externa (OE) often develop infections with Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA). Given the organism's high level of resistance, veterinary surgeons often turn to compounded solutions. Limited data describing the stability and potency of compounded ceftazidime (CAZ) solutions are available, which may affect ...
