Long‐Term Discharge Records from United States and European Karst Springs: Data Limitations in Trend Analysis

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Karst spring discharge trend (the change in discharge over a period greater than 30 years for each spring) does not depend on discharge variability. Insets show two springs with contrasting discharge variability (variable vs. extremely high variability) but similar discharge trends.

Economic Insecurity, Greenlash and the Demand for Climate Policies in Europe

open access: yesKyklos, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study how perceived economic insecurity predicts people's support for climate policies across European regions. By developing a new political economy model and using a dataset with 17 European countries, we show that larger perceived economic insecurity is robustly associated with lower support for climate policies involving higher taxes on

Mapping High‐Rate Clusters of Animal Contact‐Related Human Salmonella enterica Single‐State Outbreaks in the United States, 2009–2022: A Spatial Epidemiological Approach to Inform Public Health Surveillance

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Nontyphoidal Salmonella enterica (NTS) is a major zoonotic enteric pathogen. Animal contact‐related NTS outbreaks have increased in the United States over the last decade. Geospatial analysis can identify locations with elevated risk of NTS outbreaks where public health authorities can focus their NTS prevention and intervention ...

Taxonomic Revision of Corsia (Corsiaceae) Reveals Over‐Estimated Mycoheterotroph Diversity in Papuasia: 25 Species Become 10

open access: yesFeddes Repertorium, Volume 137, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Corsia (Corsiaceae) is a remarkable genus of achlorophyllous, fully mycoheterotrophic plants distributed across New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Northern Australia. Integrating Multiple Approaches to Reveal the Spatiotemporal Pattern of Soil Erosion in Mollisol Watershed

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 14, Page 10355-10370, 30 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Although numerous prediction methods have been developed, scientific estimation of the spatiotemporal pattern of soil erosion at the watershed scale remains challenging. In this study, fallout radionuclides of 210Pbex and 137Cs were used to estimate average annual soil erosion and deposition in a Mollisol watershed in Northeast China ...

Drivers of Stopover Distribution Across Two Autumn Migration Routes of a Long‐Distance Afro‐Palearctic Migrant, the Common Cuckoo (Cuculus canorus)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We model autumn stopover distribution of UK common cuckoos across two migration routes, revealing distinct environmental drivers and key geographic hotspots. Iberian mountain systems and the Po watershed emerge as critical stopover regions, with climate, elevation, habitat heterogeneity, and hunting risk shaping route‐specific patterns.
