Oceanic Spatio‐Temporal Patterns of Vertical Velocities in the Cape Basin and Agulhas Current Retroflection From Two Years of SWOT Altimetry

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite provides a groundbreaking view of sea surface height (SSH) across a 120‐km‐wide swath (20‐km nadir gap), opening new opportunities to reconstruct vertical velocities (w) $(w)$. Vertical motions play a central role in redistributing properties, influencing climate and ecosystems. Using the

To See or Not to See: A Systematic Review of the Importance of Human Ocular Surface Cytokine Biosignatures in Ocular Allergy

open access: yesCells, 2019
Cytokines are key cell signalling proteins in a number of immune and homeostatic pathways of the human body. In particular, they mediate intracellular mechanisms of allergy on the ocular surface by triggering cellular responses that result in typical ...

Observation and Coordination Needs for Current, Near‐Future, and Next Generation Earth‐Observing SAR Systems

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract This paper summarizes an evaluation by experts of how coordination of Earth‐observing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) missions among the world's space agencies could advance toward game‐changing scientific discoveries and fully realizing SAR's practical capability to address many issues facing society.

Esrin ELA-lisensoinnin hyödyntäminen Järvenpään kaupungissa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Insinöörityössä käytiin läpi niitä uuden lisensointitavan käyttöönoton vaikutuksia Järven-pään kaupungin paikkatietojärjestelmän hyödyntämiseen, joita Esrin ArcGIS-ohjelmaympäristön kelluvan verkkolisensoinnin vaihtaminen Esrin ELA-lisensointiin aiheutti.

Medicane characteristics from high‐resolution satellite radar observations

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Volume 152, Issue 776, April 2026 Part A.
This study uses high‐resolution observations from satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to reveal that medicanes, cyclones with tropical features in the Mediterranean basin, have dynamical characteristics with attributes comparable with those of tropical cyclones of similar intensities, but smaller outer sizes and Rossby numbers.

Small but mighty: Impact hazards from iron Near‐Earth Objects

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 2, Page 224-240, February 2026.
Abstract Small asteroids can impact Earth unexpectedly, as demonstrated by the Chelyabinsk event in 2013. The warning times are likely to be short, and the first tools for fast hazard predictions have been developed in the last years for encounters with rocky or cometary objects, which quickly fragment in the atmosphere and cause airbursts. However, in

A Fast Analytical Model for the Complete Radial Structure of Tropical Cyclone Low‐Level Wind Field

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract A tropical cyclone (TC) can generally be divided into three regions: inner core with vigorous convection, intermediate region with intermittent convection, and far outer region with less convective activity. The different physics in these three regions suggest correspondingly different wind structure models. In this study, we combine the inner‐
