ABSTRACT Effective population size (Ne), census size (Nc) and their ratio (Ne/Nc) are widely used indicators in conservation genetics, yet long‐term empirical data tracking of all three metrics over long time scales in wild populations remains rare. Using monitoring data from 1995 to 2020, we examined temporal dynamics of Ne, Nc and their relationship ...

ABSTRACT Global sustainability policy demands coordination among domain‐specific policies, yet a major challenge persists in policy monitoring and reporting, where various, often uncoordinated indicator initiatives exist. To address this challenge, we apply a network approach to investigate linkages between the indicators of the Sustainable Development

Laboratory for Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBV) Concepts – The “Data Pool Initiative for the Bohemian Forest Ecosystem” [PDF]
Forest ecosystems respond very sensitively to climate and atmospheric changes. Feedback mechanisms can be measured via changes in albedo, energy balance and carbon storage. The Bavarian Forest National Park is a unique forest ecosystem with large non-intervention zones, which promote a large scale re-wilding process with low human interference.

Abstract Natural regeneration is essential for maintaining functionally diverse and resilient plant communities in human‐modified landscapes. To design and implement successful conservation and restoration initiatives in these landscapes, research on the environmental and anthropogenic drivers of natural regeneration must be scaled up beyond ...

The concept of Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) for monitoring changes in biodiversity and tracking policy goals has substantially advanced in the last decade. I synthesize crucial information for developing an integrated European-wide biodiversity monitoring framework using EBVs to better inform environmental policies. This includes an overview
