Hypertension Detection From High-Dimensional Representation of Photoplethysmogram Signals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Hypertension is commonly referred to as the "silent killer", since it can lead to severe health complications without any visible symptoms. Early detection of hypertension is crucial in preventing significant health issues. Although some studies suggest a relationship between blood pressure and certain vital signals, such as Photoplethysmogram (PPG ...

Beyond digital twins: the role of foundation models in enhancing the interpretability of multiomics modalities in precision medicine

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review highlights how foundation models enhance predictive healthcare by integrating advanced digital twin modeling with multiomics and biomedical data. This approach supports disease management, risk assessment, and personalized medicine, with the goal of optimizing health outcomes through adaptive, interpretable digital simulations, accessible ...

Angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers prevent aortic arterial stiffness in elderly patients with hypertension

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension, 2019
Backgrounds and aims: Increased arterial stiffness may increase cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers (ARBs) are potentially useful in controlling the central blood pressure and arterial stiffness in mild to ...

Core determinants of quality criteria for mhealth for hypertension: evidence from machine learning instruments [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Uncontrolled hypertension is a global problem that needs to be addressed. Despite the many mHealth solutions in the market, the nonadherence relative to intended use jeopardizes treatment success. Although investigating user experience is one of the most important mechanisms for understanding mHealth discontinuance, surprisingly, the core determinants ...

Iron‐dependent lysosomal LDL oxidation induces the expression of scavenger receptor A in human THP‐1 monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In human monocytic cells THP‐1, a limited uptake of native—not oxidized—LDL/VLDL induced expression of scavenger receptor A and cellular adhesion. Induction was inhibited by lysosomotropic (WR‐1065) and lipophilic (BHT) antioxidants and by siRNAs against ferritinophagy.

Neuron impairment or loss in brain may be responsible for type 2 diabetes and essential hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Type 2 diabetes and essential hypertension are both very common chronic diseases. Type 2 diabetes is often associated with hypertension, but the exact causes of them are unknown.

The burden of intracranial atherosclerosis on cerebral small vessel disease: A community cohort study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Exploring the prevalence and association between intracranial atherosclerosis (ICAS) and cerebral small vessel diseases (CSVD), this study delved beyond the current scope, utilising high‐resolution vessel wall MRI (HRVW‐MRI) to investigate how subtle changes in intracranial atherosclerotic features influence the various burdens of ...
