Knowledge maps: An essential technique for conceptualisation [PDF]

open access: yesData and Knowledge Engineering, 2000
The process of conceptualisation is a fundamental problem-solving activity and, hence, is an essential activity for solving the problem of software systems construction. This paper first analyses the process of conceptualisation generally, that is, not as applied specifically to software systems, and establishes a general-purpose conceptualisation ...

The Topological Transversality Theorem for Multivalued Maps with Continuous Selections

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
This paper considers a topological transversality theorem for multivalued maps with continuous, compact selections. Basically, this says, if we have two maps F and G with continuous compact selections and F ≅ G, then one map being essential ...

Multivalued essential maps of approximable and acyclic type

open access: yesApplied Mathematics Letters, 2000
The authors consider multivalued approximable and multivalued acyclic maps. They prove that maps homotopic to an essential map in the class have the fixpoint property.

Essential and inessential maps and continuation theorems

open access: yesApplied Mathematics Letters, 2000
In the present paper the notion of essential map [\textit{A. Granas}, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Sér. A 282, 983-985 (1976; Zbl 0348.47039)] is extended to a larger class of maps. For this new notion it is proved that if \(0\) is essential and \(0\cong F\), then \(F\) is essential.

Essential maps and coincidence principles for general classes of maps

open access: yesFilomat, 2017
We introduce the notion of an essential map for a general class of maps. In addition we present homotopy and normalization type properties for these maps.

On essential spectra of operator-matrices and their Feshbach maps

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2004
The paper under review deals with spectral properties of block operator matrices on a direct sum of Banach spaces. The investigated problems are important because many complicated boundary value problems and systems of differential equations can be written in this form.

Topological Transversality Coincidence Theory for Multivalued Maps with Selections in a Given Class

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2021
This paper presents the topological transversality coincidence theorem for general multivalued maps who have selections in a given class of maps.

Coincidence Continuation Theory for Multivalued Maps with Selections in a Given Class

open access: yesAxioms, 2020
This paper considers the topological transversality theorem for general multivalued maps which have selections in a given class of maps.

A Topological Coincidence Theory for Multifunctions via Homotopy

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
A new simple result is presented which immediately yields the topological transversality theorem for coincidences.
