On the essential spectrum of the transfer operator for expanding markov maps

open access: yes, 1991
The essential spectrum of the transfer operator for expanding markov maps of the interval is studied in detail. To this end we construct explicitly an infinite set of eigenfunctions which allows us to prove that the essential spectrum in C_k is a disk ...

Generalized coincidence theory for set-valued maps

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents a coincidence theory for general classes of maps based on the notion of a Phi-essential map (we will also discuss Phi-epi maps).

Spectral mapping theorems for essential spectra

open access: yesMathematische Annalen, 1971
Definition 1. An open semioroup ~ of ~3 will be called an F-semigroup/f (i) a, b ~ ~3 and ab = ba E ~ imply a ~ ~ and b ~ ~, and (ii) there exists a closed ideal R such that ~ = q-1 (S), where S is an open semigroup in ~B/R containin 9 G and havin 9 the property that S\G is also open. It is clear that ~ contains the invertible elements of ~B, and that ~

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Mapping the spatial variability of HIV infection in Sub-Saharan Africa: Effective information for localized HIV prevention and control

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Under the premise that in a resource-constrained environment such as Sub-Saharan Africa it is not possible to do everything, to everyone, everywhere, detailed geographical knowledge about the HIV epidemic becomes essential to tailor programmatic ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

GEOGRAPHICAL SIMULTANEITY: A NEW INDEX TO VALIDATE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING OF THEMATIC MAPS

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Cartografia, 2017
New technologies have enabled the dissemination of maps. Maps are commonly produced either by sophisticated image processing techniques or by more conventional methods.
