A medial map capturing the essential geometry of organs
2012 9th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), 2012Medial representations are powerful tools for describing and parameterizing the volumetric shape of anatomical structures. Accurate computation of one pixel wide medial surfaces is mandatory. Those surfaces must represent faithfully the geometry of the volume.

Couningg-essential maps on surfaces with small genera
Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computing, 2002A prerequisite for understanding this paper, as the authors admit, is a book by the third author [Enumerative theory of maps (Mathematics and its Applications 468, Kluwer, Dordrecht/Boston/London) (1999; Zbl 0990.05070)]. Lacking ready access to this book, the reviewer is reduced to quoting the abstract of this paper: This paper provides some ...

The Essentials of the Topic Maps Reference Model (TMRM)
2007The Topic Maps Reference Model (TMRM) defines the qualities of subject mapping that distinguish it from other information technologies. It defines subject maps very abstractly in order to avoid limiting the design choices that can be made when creating them.

The essentials of texture mapping
2015This work is based on project experience gained by the authors for over a year of cooperation. Some open questions are always asked i.e. how to texture a complex 3D model? What are the limits that are set by game or web engine? Is there an alternative way to achieve realism and obtaining various effects?

Analogs of Essential Singularities for Sequences of Polynomial Mappings
Functional Analysis and Its Applications, 2001For a sequence of polynomial self-mappings of \({\mathbb C}^n\) and a given ball in \({\mathbb C^n}\), the author puts some conditions guaranteeing that the union of images of any large concentric ball is everywhere dense. Under slightly more stronger conditions, one can use a sequence of concentric balls with radii converging to zero.

Mapping essential oral healthcare for the Australian context
Australian Health ReviewAustralia’s universal healthcare scheme, Medicare, has largely excluded oral healthcare resulting in inequitable access to affordable, essential oral healthcare. To achieve inclusion of oral health within Australia’s universal healthcare scheme, it is necessary to identify and define the dental services that constitute essential oral healthcare.

Map metadata: essential elements for search and storage
Program, 2009PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to develop an understanding of the issues surrounding the cataloguing of maps in archives and libraries. An investigation into appropriate metadata formats, such as MARC21, EAD and Dublin Core with RDF, shows how particular map data can be stored.

Five Essential Properties of Disease Maps
Annals of the Association of American Geographers, 2012We argue that as the disease map user group grows, disease maps must prioritize several essential properties that support public health uses of disease maps.

Essentials of Schwarz–Christoffel mapping
2002Polygons For the rest of this book, a (generalized) polygon Γ is defined by a collection of vertices w 1 , …, w n and real interior angles α 1 π, …, α n π. It is convenient for indexing purposes to define w n +1 = w 1 and w 0 = w n .
