Hazard Assessment and Hazard Mapping for Kuwait

open access: yesInternational Journal of Disaster Risk Science, 2023
Hazard maps are essential tools to aid decision makers in land-use planning, sustainable infrastructure development, and emergency preparedness. Despite the availability of historical data, there has been no attempt to produce hazard maps for Kuwait.

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Comparing multisource harmonized forest types mapping: a case study from central Italy

open access: yesiForest - Biogeosciences and Forestry, 2015
The availability of common standardized geospatial information on composition, structure and distribution of forests is essential to support environmental actions, sustainable forest management and planning policies.

Maps on essentially infinite idempotent operators

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2012
AbstractLet H be an infinite-dimensional real or complex Hilbert space and I∞(H) the set of all bounded linear idempotent operators on H with infinite-dimensional image and infinite-dimensional kernel. We characterize three types of maps on I∞(H), namely poset automorphisms, bijective maps preserving orthogonality in both directions, and bijective maps

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

Die Rolle von Karten im Leitbildprozess

open access: yesRaumforschung und Raumordnung, 2006
Spatial Strategies are a non-binding planning instrument and gain their effect through persuasiveness and consensus building in the discussion process. The communication of its basic concepts is therefore of essential importance.

Gradient Young measures generated by quasiconformal maps in the plane

open access: yes, 2015
In this contribution, we completely and explicitly characterize Young measures generated by gradients of quasiconformal maps in the plane. By doing so, we generalize the results of Astala and Faraco \cite{AstalaFaraco} who provided a similar result for ...
