Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Rolling Maps for the Essential Manifold
Computer vision problems typically have geometric constraints. When two cameras view a 3D scene from two distinct positions, or a single camera views a 3D scene from two different locations, there are a number of geometric relations between the 3D points and their projections onto the 2D images.

Summary: Dynamic chromosome remodeling and nuclear compartmentalization take place during mammalian meiotic prophase I. We report here that the crucial roles of male pachynema-specific protein (MAPS) in pachynema progression might be mediated by its ...

Die Rolle von Karten im Leitbildprozess
Spatial Strategies are a non-binding planning instrument and gain their effect through persuasiveness and consensus building in the discussion process. The communication of its basic concepts is therefore of essential importance.

Explore maps as you read a comic book
International audienceWhile maps have been evolving towards more interactivity and pan-scalar display, their design did not change this much, lacking progressiveness between the numerous maps at different zoom levels.

On essential singularities of meromorphic mappings
The three notions ``essential singularity of the i-th kind, \(i=1,2,3''\) of a meromorphic mapping are introduced: A meromorphic mapping \(f: X\to Y\), where \(X^ *\), Y are normal complex spaces and \(X\subset X^ *\) is an open subset, is said to have an essential singularity of the i-th kind in a point P lying on the border of X if f doesn't admit ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
