Essential Norms of Composition Operators
Integral Equations and Operator Theory, 2004Recently, there has been considerable interest in studying lower and upper estimates for the essential norms of composition operators in function spaces. Sometimes, as a consequence, a necessary and sufficient condition for the composition operator to be compact on the function space can be obtained.

Essential norm of weighted composition operators
Analysis, 2018Abstract In the present paper we characterize the compact, invertible, Fredholm and closed range weighted composition operators on Cesàro function spaces. We also make an effort to compute the essential norm of weighted composition operators.

Essentialism and Nonnaturalist Normative Supervenience
Topoi, 2017In this essay I defend a kind of nonnaturalist normative supervenience, grounded in the essences of things. Essentialist theories, in fact, give us the tools to treat the nexus of normative supervenience as a nexus of metaphysical necessity, holding between the normative and the natural.

The Essential Norm of a Composition Operator
The Annals of Mathematics, 1987Let \(\Omega\subset{\mathbb{C}}^ n\) be a domain and \(\Phi: \Omega\to \Omega\) a mapping. The operator \(T: f\to f\circ \Phi\) is called a composition operator. The subject of composition operators represents a fertile arena for the interaction of operator theory, hard analysis, and geometry.

Against essential normativity of the mental
Philosophical Studies, 2007A number of authors have recently developed and defended various versions of ‘normative essentialism’ about the mental, i.e. the claim that propositional attitudes are constitutively or essentially governed by normative principles. I present two arguments to the effect that this claim cannot be right.

Essential norms of composition operators and Aleksandrov measures
Pacific Journal of Mathematics, 1997The essential norm of a composition operator on \(H^2\) is calculated in terms of the singular parts of the Aleksandrov measures of the inducing holomorphic map. The argument provides a purely function-theoretic proof of the equivalence of Sarason's compactness condition for composition operators on \(L^1\) and Shapiro's compactness condition for ...

Essential norms and weak compactness of integration operators
Archiv der Mathematik, 2011Let \(g\) be an analytic function on the unit disk \(\mathbb D\) in the complex plane. The generalized Volterra integral operator \(T_ g\) is defined by the formula \( (T_ g f)(z)=\int_0^{z}f(\zeta)g'(\zeta)\,d\zeta \), \(z\in {\mathbb D}\), for functions \(f\) analytic in \(\mathbb D\).
