Bayesian feedback in the framework of ecological sciences
In ecological studies, it is not uncommon to encounter scenarios where the same phenomenon (e.g., species occurrence, species abundance) is observed using two different types of samplers.

Modelling response of Delottococcus aberiae (De lotto) male captures to pheromone emission rates
Using increasing doses of the sex pheromone of D. aberiae, our model revealed that the emission levels to maximize the captures of males ranges from 0.4 to 40 μg/day. Abstract BACKGROUND An invasive mealybug from South Africa identified as Delottococcus aberiae (De Lotto) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) is causing severe distortions and fruit size ...

Distorted distributions and ROC curves
Abstract We consider new distortion functions based on the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and ordinal dominance (OD) curves. Various stochastic orders and aging properties are characterized by using the interpretation of ROC and OD distortions as cumulative distribution functions of suitable relative random variables.

ABSTRACT A method for conducting Bayesian elicitation and learning in risk assessment is presented. It assumes that the risk process can be described as a fault tree. This is viewed as a belief network, for which prior distributions on primary event probabilities are elicited by means of a pairwise comparison approach.

Assessing Dominance in Survival Functions: A Test for Right-Censored Data
This paper proposes a new statistical test to assess the dominance of survival functions in the presence of right-censored data. Traditional methods, such as the Log-Rank test, are inadequate for determining whether one survival function consistently ...

Long‐term prognostic implications of type 2 diabetes mellitus in colorectal cancer patients
Abstract Aim Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide. Epidemiological evidence has identified Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) as a risk factor for CRC. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of T2DM, along with clinicopathological and socio‐demographic factors, on long‐term overall survival in a large, nationally ...

Environmental and human factors shape the trophic ecology of a widespread marine predator
Our study reveals how environmental factors and fishing pressure influence swordfish diet, highlighting trophic shifts under future climate scenarios. We provide a novel framework to strengthen our ability to plan for and manage the redistribution of species under global change ensuring that the energetic needs of predators are met.

Statistical Methods for Thematic-Accuracy Quality Control Based on an Accurate Reference Sample
The goal of this work is to present a set of statistical tests that offer a formal procedure to make a decision as to whether a set of thematic quality specifications of a product is fulfilled within the philosophy of a quality control process. The tests
