A Tale of Two Programs? Stigma and Administrative Burdens in CHIP and Medicaid

open access: yesWorld Medical &Health Policy, Volume 18, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT One contributing factor to undersubscriptions is administrative burdens. To explore whether program stigma affects attitudes about administrative burdens, a survey (N = 2204) was fielded to assess differences in attitudes about seven policies decreasing administrative burdens and two policies increasing administrative burdens.

Testing macroevolutionary predictions of the Grant‐Stebbins model in the origin of Aeschynanthus acuminatus

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 6, Page 3137-3148, March 2026.
Summary The Grant‐Stebbins model predicts that a plant species encountering different pollinators across its range may undergo local adaptation and, subsequently, ecological speciation. We tested whether this could explain the origin of Aeschynanthus acuminatus (Gesneriaceae), a species phylogenetically derived from sunbird specialist ancestors.

Contrasting effects of experimental warming in the initiation year and the flowering year on flower phenology of boreal understory species

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 113, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Premise High‐latitude plants initiate flower primordia at least 1 year before flowering. While impacts of rising temperatures on phenology in the flowering year are well studied, the effects of warmer temperatures in the initiation year (IY; the year before flowering) are virtually unknown.

The effect of drought stress on the limits and costs of plasticity in floral longevity in response to pollinator decline

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 113, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Premise Declines in pollinator populations can reduce pollination services to plants, resulting in lower seed production. In response to these reductions, plants could increase the probability of pollinator visitation by plastically extending floral longevity.

Estigma e discriminação vividos na escola por crianças e jovens órfãos por Aids Stigma and discrimination at school experienced by children and youngsters orphaned by AIDS

Floral stage optimization and immune evasion enhance Agrobacterium‐mediated genome editing in Arabidopsis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 2125-2139, February 2026.
Summary Agrobacterium‐mediated transformation by floral inoculation (AMT‐FI) enables genetic engineering without tissue culture. It is widely used in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, yet its efficiency and broader applicability remain limited. Here, we used a dual‐reporter system (RUBY and hygromycin resistance) to identify key floral stages and ...
