We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Global Rangeland Primary Production and Its Consumption by Livestock in 2000–2010
Livestock grazing occupies ca. 25% of global ice-free land, removing large quantities of carbon (C) from global rangelands (here, including grass- and shrublands). The proportion of total livestock intake that is supplied by grazing (GP) is estimated at >

Assessment of Vitamin B-6 Estimated Average Requirement and Recommended Dietary Allowance for Adolescents Aged 13–15 Years Using Vitamin B-6 Intake, Nutritional Status and Anthropometry [PDF]
Because of limited available information, the Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) and Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin B-6 for adolescents were recently estimated by extrapolation from adult values. To determine vitamin B-6 requirements and to provide recommendations for intakes, vitamin B-6 intake, nutritional status and anthropometry ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Estimation of Water Footprint Compartments in National Wheat Production
Introduction: Water use and pollution have raised to a critical level in many compartments of the world. If humankind is to meet the challenges over the coming fifty years, the agricultural share of water use has to be substantially reduced.

Determination of Vitamin B-6 Estimated Average Requirement and Recommended Dietary Allowance for Children Aged 7–12 Years Using Vitamin B-6 Intake, Nutritional Status and Anthropometry [PDF]
The Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) and Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin B-6 for children were recently estimated by extrapolating from adult values because of limited available information. To determine vitamin B-6 requirements and provide recommendations for intakes, vitamin B-6 intake, nutritional status and anthropometry of 168 ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
