Pedigree-Based Estimation of Reproductive Value [PDF]
AbstractHow successful an individual or cohort is, in terms of their genetic contribution to the future population, is encapsulated in the concept of reproductive value, and is crucial for understanding selection and evolution. Long-term studies of pedigreed populations offer the opportunity to estimate reproductive values directly. However, the degree

The sizes of BLRs and BH masses of double-peaked broad low-ionization emission line objects [PDF]
In this paper, the sizes of the BLRs and BH masses of DouBle-Peaked broad low-ionization emission line emitters (dbp emitters) are compared using different methods: virial BH masses vs BH masses from stellar velocity dispersions, the size of BLRs from ...

This study investigated the influence of the degree of connectedness on the reliability of the estimated breeding values (EBVs). The focal trait in the study was the number of piglets born alive (NBA) from sows of the highly prolific Large White and ...

High rates of interest (8 to 15%) commonly used in discounted cash flow analysis of genetic improvement schemes have tended to underestimate the value of the returns and to favour breeding programmes with short-term returns.

Bootstrapping Extreme Value Estimators
This article develops a bootstrap analogue of the well-known asymptotic expansion of the tail quantile process in extreme value theory. One application of this result is to construct confidence intervals for estimators of the extreme value index such as the Probability Weighted Moment (PWM) estimator.
