Prevalence of low anterior resection syndrome and impact on quality of life after rectal cancer surgery: population‐based study

A consequence of rectal cancer surgery is bowel dysfunction, also known as low anterior resection syndrome (LARS). In this cross‐sectional study, the prevalence of major LARS was 53·1 per cent. Major LARS was associated with a greater impact on bowel‐related quality of life.

Telemedicine in postoperative follow‐up of STOMa PAtients: a randomized clinical trial (the STOMPA trial)

In this RCT, postoperative telemedicine follow‐up by designated stoma nurses led to no significant differences in quality of life (QoL) compared with that for standard hospital follow‐up. However, telemedicine follow‐up did not meet the pretrial QoL superiority criteria.

Nationwide cohort study of the impact of education, income and social isolation on survival after acute colorectal cancer surgery

Low socioeconomic position increased the risk of undergoing acute colorectal cancer surgery and reduced the 1‐year survival rate after acute surgery in an observational study based on the Danish Colorectal Cancer Group database and Danish national registries.
