Digitising biological collections to advance National Species Inventories: A case study from the flora of Chile

In response to Chile's public policy to establish a national biodiversity inventory and monitoring system, we launched the HerbarioDigital.cl portal. We have digitised over 120,000 specimens representing more than 3,900 species from two Chilean herbaria, integrating them through a curated local taxonomic index.

Fungi are essential to tropical ecosystems but remain largely absent from conservation agendas. By analyzing over 78,000 fungal records from Costa Rica—a globally recognized biodiversity hotspot—this study reveals key patterns in fungal diversity, distribution, and seasonality.

Do robots boost productivity? A quantitative meta‐study

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 1531-1571, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This meta‐study analyzes the productivity effects of industrial robots. More than 1800 estimates from 85 primary studies are collected. The meta‐analytic evidence suggests that robotization has so far provided, at best, a small boost to productivity. There is strong evidence of publication bias in the positive direction.
