The Cinderella tree, Quillaja saponaria – A soap story
Our current understanding of plants has been shaped by the entwining of different cultures. The Chilean soapbark tree, traditionally valued as a source of natural soap, was shown by serendipitous research in France in the 1900s to produce compounds that can boost the immune response to vaccines.

The crystal structure of Malonic Dihydracide Hydrated has been determined by X ray diffraction. Space group P2i/c ; a. : 9.184 A, bo : 9393 A, c, : 7.931 A, /3 : 102,38" ; z: 4. The structure was solved by Symbolic Addition Method using the Multisolution Program L.S.A.M. The molecules are formed in zig-zag chains, which are linked by the hydrogen bonds.

Automated extraction of leaf mass per area from digitized herbarium specimens
Summary The digitization of vast herbarium collections has made millions of plant specimen images freely available online, which can now be used to generate phenotypic datasets of unprecedented scope. Here, we assess the potential of computer vision tools to automate the extraction of predicted leaf mass per area (LMApred) from digitized herbarium ...
