Growth–survival trade‐off in temperate trees is weak and restricted to late‐successional stages

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 11, Page 3466-3477, November 2025.
Our findings highlight a role of disturbances in filtering life‐history strategies and their potential impact on forest dynamics and global carbon cycling, but also a need to better understand the mediating processes of tree demographic trade‐offs.

Habitat Conditions and Neighborhood Interactions Drive the Phylogenetic Structure of Seedling Assemblages in a Tropical Forest Mosaic

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 6, November 2025.
In poor, well‐drained sandy soils, we observed the coexistence of more closely related species, suggesting that shared evolutionary history influences which seedlings survive under these restrictive conditions. Contrary to expectations, flooded areas harbored more distantly related species, likely because pathogens and other natural enemies limit the ...

Práticas urbanas e produção do espaço em ocupações informais

open access: yesGeoTextos, 2010

open access: yesActa Amazonica, 2004
The herb community of tropical forests is very little known, with few studies addressing its structure quantitatively. Even with this scarce body of information, it is clear that the ground herbs are a rich group, comprising 14 to 40% of the species ...

Foliar herbivory pushes plant individuals towards the periphery of a plant–floral visitor interaction network

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 9, Page 2414-2428, September 2025.
The authors demonstrate how the effects of herbivory on a key plant trait can cascade to shape the interactions between individual plants and their flower visitors and how the indirect effects between herbivores and pollinators can modulate the structure of interaction networks in terrestrial ecosystems.

Insights on the Potential of Natural Regeneration to Restore Cerrado Open Ecosystems

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 9, September 2025.
The colonisation potential of native Cerrado species in degraded areas will depend on the remaining underground structures and not on seed rain from nearby conserved remnants. Effective restoration of the Cerrado will not be possible without active restoration, if the bud‐bank are not present in the system.

Organic matter decomposition and microarthropod community structure in corn fields under low input and intensive management in Guaíra (SP)

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 1997
The rate of organic matter decomposition and the structure of the communities of microarthropods were compared between two corn fields receiving contrasting agricultural management practices (low input and intensive farming).
