SPATIAL STRUCTURE OF Theobroma subincanumMart. AND Theobromaspeciosum Willd. ex Spreng.IN THE PARQUE NACIONAL DO JURUENA, MATO GROSSO STATE, BRAZIL

open access: yesRevista Árvore
Analysis of the spatial distribution is a very useful tool to understand the ecological behavior of the species in that it provides information that underlies management strategies and influences the population structure.

DISTRIBUIÇÃO ESPACIAL E ESTRUTURA POPULACIONAL DE Parkia platycephala Benth

open access: yesNativa, 2019

Fine‐scale patterns of genetic structure in three species of forest birds reveal dynamic Pleistocene history within an Amazonian interfluve

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
Phylogeographical studies of Amazonian birds have revealed large intraspecific diversity, even within recognized areas of endemism. To understand the origin and organization of Amazonian diversity, including the influence of current and historical landscapes, we need to evaluate fine‐scale patterns of genetic diversity in relation to detailed ...

Abundance and Seasonal Dynamics of Guiana Dolphins (Sotalia guianensis) in Southern Brazilian Estuarine and Adjacent Coastal Waters

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Estimating population parameters is crucial for understanding species dynamics and assessing anthropogenic impacts, thereby supporting conservation efforts. We evaluate key population parameters—group structure, abundance and capture–recapture probabilities—of the Guiana dolphin in the Paranaguá Estuarine Complex and adjacent coastal waters ...

Scaling the effects of size and temperature on animal consumption rates from individuals to populations in a subtropical reef fish

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 12, Page 3385-3395, December 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Measuring how temperature and body size drive individual consumption rates is fundamental to predict how climate change might shape population‐level consumption pressure. Yet, such measurements remain rare.

Biological variables of Hypostomus francisci (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) from Itapecerica River, Minas Gerais State, Brazil

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2016
Herein we determine for the first time the reproduction parameters and population structure of Hypostomus francisci in the Itapecerica River, São Francisco Basin. A total of 250 specimens was captured quarterly between March 2010 and February 2012.

Precipitation and Temperature‐Dependent Locomotor Performance Drive the Abundance of a Neotropical Lizard

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 6, November 2025.
We investigated how climate and ecophysiology affect the demography of the lizard Tropidurus oreadicus in the Brazilian Cerrado. While lizards were more frequently captured in the dry season, their abundance peaked during the rainy season when their locomotor performance was highest.

Monitoring population extinction risk with community science data

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 9, Page 2133-2147, September 2025.
Our modelling framework provides a robust, computationally efficient and easy‐to‐apply tool for monitoring local persistence probability that can support global conservation efforts. This will complement the monitoring of species population viability in places where standardized monitoring is still lacking, but community science observations are common.

Migration Patterns of Epiphyllous Bryophyte Metapopulations in Amazonian Fragmented Landscape Inferred From Census and Genomic Data

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
We examined the long‐term genetic consequences of habitat fragmentation on two epiphyllous bryophyte species in experimentally fragmented Amazonian forests. Using genotyping and demographic data, we found species‐specific responses and metapopulation dynamics in relation to their mating system.
