Irinotecan‐induced gastrointestinal damage alters the expression of peptide transporter 1 and absorption of cephalexin in rats

Irinotecan (CPT‐11)‐induced gastrointestinal damage increased the intestinal expression of Pept1 to ∼2‐fold in rats. However, the oral bioavailability of cephalexin (CEX), a typical substrate of Pept1, significantly decreased to 76% of that in control rats.
