Integrative taxonomy suggests hidden diversity within the fish genus Cyttopsis (Zeiformes, Parazenidae)

Abstract Nine specimens of Cyttopsis rosea (Zeiformes: Parazenidae) were collected during scientific surveys at three different locations in the northeast Atlantic. All nine specimens were included in the molecular analysis, adding new cytochrome c oxidase subunit I sequences to public databases.

Abstract Blue‐eyed red‐fin pleco Hypostomus soniae (family Loricariidae) presented a putative sex system XX/XY in early stage. Aiming to explore the inter‐populational karyotypic variation and proposed emergence of the XX/XY system, we studied 13 H. soniae individuals (6 males, 7 females) from the Tapajós River.

Age and growth of the endemic groovebelly stingray (Dasyatis hypostigma), a heavily exploited batoid in the Brazilian Meridional Margin (21–34° S)

Abstract Life‐history data are often lacking for exploited elasmobranchs, jeopardizing proper management and conservation measures for this vulnerable group. Herein, we provided age and growth estimates for the groovebelly stingray (Dasyatis hypostigma), a medium‐sized, heavily exploited batoid endemic to the southwestern Atlantic Ocean.
