Adapting the growth‐form concept to geniculate coralline algae (Corallinales, Rhodophyta)

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Geniculate coralline algae (Corallinales, Rhodophyta) are a diverse group of calcifying macroalgae, loosely united by flexible upright axes formed by alternating calcified (intergenicula) and uncalcified segments (genicula), a trait that has independently arisen several times.

Prolonged exposure to artificial light and carcinogenesis: A systematic review of oncostatic mechanisms associated with melatonin pathways

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Exposure to artificial light at night (ALAN), particularly at blue wavelengths, disrupts circadian rhythms by suppressing melatonin, thereby increasing cancer susceptibility. This systematic review consolidates evidence linking prolonged ALAN exposure to an elevated risk of breast and prostate tumors.

Assessing D‐Squame as a Minimally Invasive Technique to Evaluate the Cutaneous Immune Response mRNA in a Dog Model of Canine Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a multifactorial, inherited skin disease, estimated to affect ≤ 15% of dogs. Studies of skin messenger mRNA in cAD currently use invasive methods, including blood sampling and biopsy collection, whilst advances in human atopic dermatitis study methodology have demonstrated reliable use of minimally ...

Tolerability and Feasibility of Minimally Invasive Canine Skin Sampling: Excellent Tolerability Meets Transcriptomic Challenges

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Advances in transcriptomics have driven the demand for minimally invasive, reproducible and high‐yield skin sampling methods, particularly for studying inflammatory skin diseases in companion animals. Hypothesis/Objectives We tested tolerability, feasibility and RNA quantity and quality of three minimally invasive skin sampling ...

Do Fossil Fuel Subsidies Crowd Out Health Expenditure? A Country‐Level Longitudinal Analysis

open access: yesHealth Economics, Volume 35, Issue 4, Page 677-687, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Annually, countries allocate hundreds of millions of dollars to subsidize fossil fuels, often at the expense of public health and environmental sustainability. This undermines progress toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well‐Being) and 13 (Climate Action).
