Extended Technicolor Models with Two ETC Groups

open access: yes, 2006
We construct extended technicolor (ETC) models that can produce the large splitting between the masses of the $t$ and $b$ quarks without necessarily excessive contributions to the $\rho$ parameter or to neutral flavor-changing processes.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Modelling evapotranspiration of soilless cut roses "Red Naomi" based on climatic and crop predictors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Original PaperThis study aimed to estimate the daily crop evapotranspiration (ETc) of soilless cut ‘Red Naomi’ roses, cultivated in a commercial glass greenhouse, using climatic and crop predictors.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

MOVING OBJECT DETECTION USING DISCRETE COSINE TRANSFORM BASED BACKGROUND SUBTRACTION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanics of Continua and Mathematical Sciences
This article addresses the problem of visual detection of moving objects in bad weather conditions. A multi-frame semantic information-based background subtraction scheme is proposed here.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.
