Avaliação ambiental do rio mongaguá, sp, utilizando macroinvertebrados bentônicos

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is a major cause of travelers’ diarrhea and of diarrhea among young children in developing countries. Experimental challenge studies in adult volunteers have played a pivotal role in establishing ETEC as an enteric

Conservation and global distribution of non-canonical antigens in enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) cause significant diarrheal morbidity and mortality in children of resource-limited regions, warranting development of effective vaccine strategies.

This study shows the protective effects of potential probiotic strain of Pediococci strains against diarrheal Escherichia coli strains in Caenorhabditis elegans model system. The E. coli strains resulted in severe morphological and physiological damage to the worm whereas the probiotic interventions were able to reduce these damages.

ETEC biofilms are regulated by magnesium and lactate bioavailability
ABSTRACT The prevailing dogma is that enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) use plasmid-borne colonization factors (CFs) to adhere to the intestinal epithelium, where the organisms proliferate and produce their diarrhea-causing virulence factors, the heat-stable (ST) and ...

Capturing the true burden of Shigella and ETEC: The way forward
The mortality and morbidity burden estimation of diarrheal diseases (DD), and Shigella and Enterotoxigenic E. Coli (ETEC) varies among different studies and by the models used for producing these estimates. Understanding the real burden of these important pathogens will guide public health and policy makers to prioritize resources for accelerating ...

This graphical summary illustrates the isolation and identification of Escherichia coli in samples from the milk production chain. The classical culture methods and molecular methods were used to identify E. coli, followed by the characterisation of biofilm formation, curli production and motility, and verification of pathogenicity and environmental ...
