Per-Priority Flow Control (PPFC) for Enhancing Metro Ethernet QoS
2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development, 2010This paper presents a novel scheme called perpriority flow control (PPFC) as an extension to the IEEE802.3x standard using a simple and efficient node buffer management strategy, where a physical channel was divided into several virtual channel based on the bandwidth value (QoS parameter) embedded into the IPv6 flow label field of each flow.

Predictive-Flow-Queue-Based Energy Optimization for Gigabit Ethernet Controllers
IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2009This paper presents energy-efficient packet interface architecture and a power management technique for gigabit Ethernet controllers, where low-latency and high-bandwidth are required to meet the pressing demands of very high frame-rate data. More specifically, a predictive-flow-queue (PFQ)-based packet interface architecture is presented, which ...

Rate flow control for packetised voice on Ethernet local area network
Proceedings of IEEE Singapore International Conference on Networks/International Conference on Information Engineering '93, 2002Ethernet Local Area Network (LAN) is widely used in the industry and academic environment for data communications. It has good throughput but poor delay characteristics, rendering it unsuitable for voice communications. However, the potential cost benefit of integrating data and voice users in a single LAN provides a strong motivation for packetised ...

AbstractOne of the new challenges associated with full‐duplex Ethernet is that of providing for network congestion control. The IEEE 802.3x Standard does not specify the switch architecture for implementing PAUSE flow control or at what point a MAC Control entity actually generates a PAUSE frame. This is an implementation issue that is product specific

On the effects of the IEEE 802.3x flow control in full-duplex Ethernet LANs
Proceedings 24th Conference on Local Computer Networks. LCN'99, 2003This paper presents ongoing work in the field of the IEEE 802.3x flow control scheme within a full-duplex Ethernet LAN. Our simulation-based investigations compare the throughput of TCP streams in selected network topologies when either the Ethernet flow control is disabled or enabled.

Feature Issue on Optical EthernetWe present a novel proposal for the extension of the currently approved multipoint control protocol (MPCP), as defined in the IEEE 802.3ah standard, clause 64, in the form of two new MPCP messages (extended GATE and extended REPORT), maintaining full backward compatibility with the already-deployed Ethernet passive ...

Friction drag primarily determines the total drag of transport systems. A promising approach to reduce drag at high Reynolds numbers (> 104) are active transversal surface waves in combination with passive methods like a riblet surface. For the application in transportation systems with large surfaces such as airplanes, ships or trains, a large scale ...

Interactions between TCP and ethernet flow control over Netgear XAVB2001 HomePlug AV links
HomePlug AV links are usually slower than the surrounding wired LAN links, creating a bottleneck where traffic may be buffered and delayed. To investigate the interactions between TCP congestion control and Ethernet flow control we trialled four TCP variants over a HomePlug AV link using two Netgear XAVB2001 devices. We observed that the XAVB2001's useVeera Valli, Radika +3 more
