Bubble Formation Control: Fabrication of Centimeter‐Sized Tissue‐Like Constructs by Catalase‐Coated Oxygen‐Releasing Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 47, 21 August 2026.
Oxygen‐releasing hydrogels are widely used to support cell survival in 3D cultures and to promote wound healing. However, incorporating catalase to convert H2O2 into O2 often generates additional oxygen bubbles, leading to material instability which rarely addressed.

Multi‐Target Anti‐Obesity Potential of Coula edulis Nut Extract in High‐Fat Diet‐Induced Obesity in Rats

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study evaluated the multi‐target anti‐obesity effects of Coula edulis nut extract (CEE) in high‐fat diet‐induced obese Wistar rats. Following 4 weeks of obesity induction, rats received oral CEE at 1 or 2 g/kg body weight, or orlistat for 5 weeks under continued high‐fat diet or normal diet conditions.

Hybrid Dynamic–Covalent PEG Hydrogels With Enhanced Stability for Photothermally Triggered Pulsatile Drug Delivery

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2026.
Hydrogels with dynamic covalent crosslinks enable stimuli‐responsive drug delivery but often degrade rapidly. Here, PEG hydrogels combining reversible thiol‐conjugate and stable thiol‐maleimide crosslinks showed enhanced stability and prolonged lifetime.

Tumor‐Responsive PLGA‐SS‐HA Nanoparticles for Zinc Complex Delivery Suppress Prostate Cancer via TR3/FTH1 Pathway

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 8, August 2026.
A tumor‐responsive PLGA‐SS‐HA nanoplatform enables glutathione‐triggered delivery of zinc complexes to prostate cancer cells. Enhanced intracellular zinc accumulation induces oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis through activation of the TR3/FTH1 signaling pathway.

Exploring Biological Properties of Manganese(II)‐Phenanthroline‐Based Complexes: In Vitro Insights

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 29, 3 August 2026.
Four Mn(II) complexes with phenanthroline derivatives were studied. These compounds were tested against several parasites and different human cancer cells. Despite its cytotoxicity on breast cancer, DNA seems not to be the main biological target. These complexes can drive the design and development of new metal‐based agents with improved biological ...

Yeasts on Tree Gum: Taxonomic, Genetic and Phenotypic Diversity

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 4, August 2026.
Taxonomically highly diverse yeasts are associated with sour cherry gum, including genetically and physiologically heterogeneous Metschnikowia pulcherrima strains that antagonise other fungi by releasing pulcherriminic acid. ABSTRACT Depending on their composition, exudates oozing from trees can support or inhibit the growth of microorganisms.

TRF2 Recovers Ischemic Postconditioning Cardioprotection in Aged Myocardiocytes by Regulating CSNK2A2 Localization and FUNDC1 Dephosphorylation

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2026.
Myocardial expression of telomeric repeat‐binding factor 2 (TRF2) was reduced in aged male mice and further downregulated following ischemic postconditioning (I/Post). Mechanistically, TRF2 confers cardioprotection by interacting with casein kinase 2 alpha 2 polypeptide (CSNK2A2) to modulate FUN14 domain‐containing protein 1 (FUNDC1) dephosphorylation,

Porphyromonas gingivalis Outer Membrane Vesicles‐Associated DNA Triggers Inflammation by Inducing IL‐6 in Astrocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 227-238, August 2026.
Pg releases OMVs which contain Pg genomic DNA. The Pg OMVs‐associated DNA is incorporated into astrocytes via endocytosis and increases IL‐6 mRNA expression via TLR9. These effects of Pg OMVs may induce neuroinflammation, which could contribute to the onset and progression of AD in periodontal disease.
