Tourism may be considered to be a variety of inter-ethnic relations because it brings into contact peoples who are not only strangers to one another, but may also be members of different cultures or sub-cultures (van den Berghe 1994: 8). Ethnicity permeates many aspects of tourism, not least because the tourism industry regards ethnicity as a resource.

Annals of Tourism Research, 1995Abstract This paper examines the role of ethnic tourism in nationalist movements. The colonial experience is a double victimization in that cultural devaluation often accompanies material conquest and exploitation. Nationalist rhetoric reflects this experience, projecting a dual message of historical injustice and cultural revaluation.

2015Little research has been conducted on blacks as travelers and tourists, and what has been done is either anecdotal or is tied to black magazine readers who travel. This paper investigates whether differences exist in the travel motivations, activities, and travel group type of blacks and whites from a national sample of travelers in the U.S. population.
