Fruits of Trichosanthes cucumerina were collected from Mahanadi River areas, Odisha and subjected to qualitative phytochemical screening. The results revealed that fruits showed the presence of tannin, saponin, and reducing sugar. It show the pharmacological potential of T.cucumerina fruits.

Phytochemical investigation of the genus has been somewhat neglected but a picture is emerging of the type of constituents which are present in reasonable quantities, namely iridoid and flavonoid glycosides.
