Understanding and Addressing the Performance Asymmetry Issue in Semitransparent Laminated Organic Photovoltaic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work addresses the challenge of current–voltage asymmetry in scalable laminated semitransparent organic photovoltaics (OPVs) for indoor applications. Vertical stratification of materials is shown to create an energy barrier, leading to performance differences under different illumination directions.

Effect on Kidney Function of Ether, Ethylene, Ethylene and Amytal, and Ethylene and Avertin

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1932
Although the suppression of kidney function by anesthetics has been studied under various conditions there is yet considerable speculation involved in their selection when considered on this basis. Marx1 has shown, in dogs, that higher dosages of amytal exert a strong anti-diuretic effect and cause retention of substances ordinarily excreted through ...

Expression patterns of ethylene biosynthesis genes from banana during fruit ripening and in relationship with finger drop [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Banana finger drop is expressed as a dislodgement of individual fruits from the hand at the pedicel rupture area. As bananas fruit are marketed in hands of generally 4?9 fruits, this postharvest disorder considerably reduces the commercial value of the ...

Transmembrane Activation of Catalysis and Protein Refolding in Synthetic Cells by Enzymes and Nanozymes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synthetic cells are engineered herein to respond to an external chemical messenger by the activation of intracellular catalysis. The chemical messenger molecules are catalytically generated by an extracellular enzyme or a mineral surface, whereas the intracellular catalysis emerges via direct enzyme activation or via protein refolding.

Cytokinin Accumulation and an Altered Ethylene Response Mediate the Pleiotropic Phenotype of the Pea Nodulation Mutant R50 (\u3cem\u3esym16\u3c/em\u3e) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
R50 (sym16), a pleiotropic mutant of Pisum sativum L., is short, has thickened internodes and roots, and has a reduced number of lateral roots and nodules. Its low nodule phenotype can be restored with the application of ethylene inhibitors; furthermore,

Eco‐Fabricated Nanowave‐Textured Implants Drive Microtubule‐Assisted Nuclear Mechanotransduction and Chromatin Modification: Biophysical Priming for Osteogenesis and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Eco‐friendly nanowave‐textured implants produced via femtosecond laser fabrication enhance bone regeneration by orchestrating a precise mechanotransduction cascade. This nanotopography directs mesenchymal stem cell alignment and cytoskeletal organization, triggering changes in nuclear shape and chromatin acetylation that prime cells for osteogenesis ...

Dormancy and sprout control in root and tuber crops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Research objectives were to study dormancy/sprout control in potato and sweetpotato, and to identify novel sprout control strategies. Consistent with sprout stimulation by gibberellins (GAs) in potato, 10 mM GA3 enhanced sprout length and number in ...

Vat Photopolymerization of High Molecular Weight Polymer Latexes with Pseudothermoplastic Properties for Recyclability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A photocurable latex system enables high‐resolution vat photopolymerization of water‐dispersed thermoplastics, yielding pseudothermoplastic materials with recyclability. The formulation permits precise control over mechanical properties and supports reprocessing through conventional and extrusion‐based methods. Compatibility with two‐photon 3D printing
