Oxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide: catalyst deactivation in an industrial run
Applied Catalysis, 1983Abstract The deactivation of a silver catalyst for the selective oxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide was investigated after six years of industrial use. Some tubes of the reactor were unloaded and the catalyst was divided into five parts: sample U1 at the gas inlet (top of the reactor) to sample U5 at the gas outlet were compared with fresh ...

Synthesis of poly(ethylene oxide) approaching monodispersity.
Angewandte Chemie, 2014Polydispersity in polymers hinders fundamental understanding of their structure-property relationships and prevents them from being used in fields like medicine, where polydispersity affects biological activity.

On the reaction of the ethylene oxide radical cation with neutral ethylene oxide
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Processes, 1997Abstract The gas-phase reaction between the ethylene oxide radical cation and neutral ethylene oxide, when performed in the high-pressure source of a tandem mass spectrometer, forms a C 4 H 8 O 2 radical cation adduct. The adduct ion was formed with varying degrees of collisional damping within the ion source so that the ion structure, in successive

Ethylene and ethylene-oxide adsorption on Ag(110)
Surface Science, 1986The adsorption of ethylene (Et) and ethylene-oxide (Et-O) on Ag(110) was studied in the temperature range of 100–300 K using work function measurements (Δφ), LEED, UPS and thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS). The binding energy of Et to Ag(110) is rather weak. In TDS, Et desorbs for low coverage with a peak temperature Tm = 148 K.

To the Editor.— Divine and Amanollahi 1 argue that the study of Hogstedt and associates 2 —which confirmed an earlier observation that workers occupationally exposed to ethylene oxide had elevated rates of leukemia mortality—was seriously deficient. They also cite a previous occupational study, 3 involving a larger cohort, that found no excess cancer ...

Oxidation of ethylene by soil bacteria
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1976The course of the biological oxidation of ethylene by soil was dependent on the type of soil used as well as on other factors. As evidenced from an increase in oxidation rate, the ethylene-consuming microorganisms in soil could grow at the expense of ethylene, even when the gas was present at concentrations of 50 ppm or less.
