Ethylene glycol (EG) can be found in many agents, such as antifreeze. Ingestion of EG may cause serious poisoning. Adults are typically exposed when EG is ingested as a cheap substitute for ethanol or in suicide-attempts. Children may be exposed by accidental ingestion caused by decantation of EG to unlabeled bottles.

Ethylene-Promoted versus Ethylene-Free Enyne Metathesis
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2011The role of ethylene in promoting metathesis of acetylenic enynes is probed within the context of ring-closing enyne metathesis, using first- and second-generation Grubbs catalysts. Under inert atmosphere, rapid catalyst deactivation is observed by calibrated GC-FID analysis for substrates with minimal propargylic bulk.

Analysis of Ethylene Receptors: Ethylene-Binding Assays
2017Plant ethylene receptors bind ethylene with high affinity. Most of the characterization of ethylene binding to the receptors has been carried out using a radioligand-binding assay on functional receptors expressed in yeast. In this chapter, we describe methods for expressing ethylene receptors in yeast and conducting ethylene-binding assays on intact ...

Ethylene and Ethylene Physiology
1980Ethylene, indeed, is a busy gas. So busy, in fact, that seemingly, each month when the professional journals are published, some new involvement is discovered or a new application for ethylene in agriculture is developed. Prior to the 1950’s, about the only commercial use of ethylene in agriculture was gassing mature green bananas and tomatoes to make ...

Residual Ethylene Oxide and Ethylene Glycol in Ethylene Oxide Sterilized Pharmaceuticals
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1965The development and application of two methods for the determination of sterilization residues in ethylene oxide sterilized steroids, vitamins, and antibiotics are described. One method is based on the separation and concentration of ethylene oxide (ETO) by distillation and measurement by internal standard gas liquid chromatography.

Determination of Ethylene Oxide, Ethylene Chlorohydrin, and Ethylene Glycol by Gas Chromatography
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1971Abstract The technique of gas chromatography was employed for the quantitative determination of ethylene oxide, ethylene chlorohydrin, and ethylene glycol. The simultaneous determination of ethylene chlorohydrin and ethylene glycol in an aqueous solution using a single polyethylene glycol column was accomplished under isothermal conditions, while ...

Following the explosion in Evansville, supposedly due to ethylene, which has been fully explained inThe Journal, 1 a wave of hysteria against the use of this valuable anesthetic spread through this section of the country. To counteract such a state of affairs, I undertook the investigation reported here, subsequently followed by a questionnaire sent ...
