Acid-mediated sulfonylation of arylethynylene bromides with sodium arylsulfinates: synthesis of (E)-1,2-bis(arylsulfonyl)ethylenes and arylacetylenic sulfones

open access: yes, 2017
A solvent-dependent sulfonylation of arylethynylene bromides with sodium arylsulfinates has been developed. The (E)-1,2-bis(arylsulfonyl)ethylenes were formed in DMSO, while the arylacetylenic sulfones were obtained in toluene.

Heterologous over-expression of ACC SYNTHASE8 (ACS8) in Populus tremula x P. alba clone 717-1B4 results in elevated levels of ethylene and induces stem dwarfism and reduced leaf size through separate genetic pathways

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
Plant height is an important agronomic and horticultural trait that impacts plant productivity, durability and esthetic appeal. A number of the plant hormones such as gibberellic acid (GA), auxin and ethylene have been linked to control of plant ...

From diffuse growth to planar polarity in Arabidopsis root epidermal cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Plant roots fulfill important functions as they serve in water and nutrient uptake, provide anchorage of the plant body in the soil and in some species form the site of symbiotic interactions with soil-living biota.

Ethylene Receptor ETHYLENE RECEPTOR1 Domain Requirements for Ethylene Responses in Arabidopsis Seedlings     [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2011
Abstract Ethylene influences many processes in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) through the action of five receptor isoforms. We used high-resolution, time-lapse imaging of dark-grown Arabidopsis seedlings to better understand the roles of each isoform in the regulation of growth in air, ethylene-stimulated nutations, and growth ...

Atom, Atom-Type, and Total Linear Indices of the “Molecular Pseudograph’s Atom Adjacency Matrix”: Application to QSPR/QSAR Studies of Organic Compounds

open access: yesMolecules, 2004
In this paper we describe the application in QSPR/QSAR studies of a newgroup of molecular descriptors: atom, atom-type and total linear indices of the molecularpseudograph’s atom adjacency matrix.

A bonding evolution theory study of the mechanism of [3+2] cycloaddition reactions of nitrones with electron-deficient ethylenes

open access: yes, 2015
The mechanism of zw-type [3+2] cycloaddition (32CA) reactions of nitrones with electron-deficient (ED) ethylenes has been studied using density functional theory (DFT) methods at the MPWB1K/6-31G(d) level of theory. An exploration of the potential energy

Armazenamento refrigerado de caquis 'Fuyu', sob atmosfera modificada com adsorção de etileno Cold storage of 'Fuyu' persimmons, under modified atmosphere with ethylene's adsorption

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Understanding the Effects of Ethylene as an Airborne Contaminant in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells and its Mitigation via Filtration

open access: yesChemElectroChem
Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are a promising clean energy technology, but their performance and durability are highly sensitive to contaminants in both the fuel and oxidant streams.
