flux on Mt. Etna: The 2004–2005 eruption and the role of regional tectonics and volcano tectonics

open access: yes, 2008
The soil CO2 flux on Mt. Etna as recorded by the ETNAGAS network (an automatic system for measuring soil CO2 flux and meteorological parameters) started to increase strongly about 5 months prior to the onset of the 2004–2005 eruption and decreased a ...

Geochemical dataset from Mt Etna volcano

open access: yes, 2021
The reported dataset is annexed to the article “Intense overpressurization at basaltic open-conduit volcanoes as inferred by geochemical signals: the case of the Mt Etna December 2018 eruption”, where all the technical details about the measurement methods can be found. It consists of five types of parameters: soil CO2 flux from Mt Etna flanks, CO2/SO2

Roots of Etna Volcano in faults of great earthquakes.

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Science Letters, 1997
Results from several seismic methods allow us to sketch the deep structure of Etna and its Ionian margin. Under Etna a volume of high velocity material is found in a structurally high position; the emplacement of this suggests spreading of the surrounding medium. Just offshore, down-to-the-east normal faults penetrate through the upper crust.

Una cantina alle pendici dell'Etna

open access: yesAnd, 2020
A winery on the slopes of Etna is a design project of great interest but also quite challenging to achieve owing to the problems of interaction of different themes of great interest such as the volcano, the lava flow, the “pietraie” (great base ...

Spatial vent opening probability map of Etna volcano (Sicily, Italy)

open access: yes, 2012
We produce a spatial probability map of vent opening (susceptibility map) at Etna, using a statistical analysis of structural features of flank eruptions of the last 2 ky.

Mt. Etna aerosol optical thickness from MIVIS images

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2006
This work focuses on the evaluation of Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) in Mt. Etna volcano area starting from the analysis of MIVIS VIS images. MIVIS images and ancillary data (atmospheric profiles, photometric measurements, atmospheric infrared ...

Magmatic gas leakage at Mount Etna (Sicily, Italy): relationships with the volcano-tectonic structures, the hydrological pattern and the eruptive activity

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we provide a review of chemical and isotopic data gathered over the last three decades on Etna volcano's fluid emissions and we present a synthetic framework of their spatial and temporal relationships with the volcano-tectonic structures ...

Geochemical Characterization of Groundwater in a Volcanic System

open access: yesResources, 2015
A geochemical investigation was undertaken at Mt. Etna Volcano to better define groundwater characteristics of its aquifers. Results indicate that the Na–Mg ± Ca–HCO3− ± (SO42− or Cl−) type accounts for more than 80% of the groundwater composition in the
